It is with great pleasure that we offer our congratulations to Fire Protection Specialist Bruce Weaver for being a recipient of the Amethyst Award.
The award is presented to members of the Ontario Public Service who have gone above and beyond to provide great service to the people of Ontario. The award seems an even greater honour when one considers that candidates are nominated by their peers. Bruce’s colleagues thought so highly of his achievements that they submitted his name for the award.
During his 22 years of service with the OFM, Bruce has made many significant contributions toward advancing fire safety in Ontario, particularly in the areas of fire prevention and public fire safety education. His accomplishments are numerous and will have a lasting effect on the lives of Ontarians. In 2001, Bruce received the Fire Marshal’s Award for Excellence in Fire Safety.
Bruce shared his expertise in the application and enforcement of fire safety legislation through the development and publication of several technical guidelines and through educational presentations. His written legacy and the countless hours of training he provided mean that vulnerable seniors and others living in care and treatment facilities, occupants of high-rise buildings and hotel guests are safer from fire. Also, employees who work in these establishments are better prepared to prevent fire and to respond should it occur.
Bruce spends much of his time assisting the fire service and the public by responding to enquiries on various topics ranging from wood stove safety to industrial fire safety. Bruce is cheerful, kind and as helpful as can be.
Thank you, Bruce, for your hard work and dedication. We are so proud of you.
